Flexible Demand Guidance for Commercial Buildings

As Australia’s electricity grid transitions towards renewable energy, commercial buildings have an opportunity to better align when and how they use electricity with periods of lower cost, lower emissions and reduced pressure on the grid.

The Flexible Demand Guide for Commercial Buildings project is developing practical guidance to help building owners and managers understand and implement flexible energy demand strategies. The guide will provide a step-by-step pathway to review a building’s energy profile and costs, identify opportunities to shift electricity use, assess potential risks and benefits, and develop a business case for implementation.

The project supports asset and facility managers, sustainability teams, energy procurement teams and other property stakeholders to make more informed energy decisions. Our aim is to help commercial buildings manage emerging electrical loads, reduce energy costs and emissions, and contribute to a more flexible and resilient electricity system.
